How to Charter a Club/Organization

Starting a new club is an opportunity to create community, build leadership, and bring your vision to life. Follow these six steps to become officially chartered:

- Recruit Your Leadership Team
Before applying, identify:
- 2–3 Student leaders
• A Faculty or Staff Advisor
- Complete Your Constitution
Your Constitution defines your:
- Mission and purpose
• Goals
• Leadership structure
• Selection process
• Meeting practices
Constitution Template (View only, please make a copy by clicking File > Save As)
- Create Your Budget Proposal(IF APPLICABLE)
All invited to submit.
Funds are not guaranteed. New clubs will not receive a budget but will receive initiative money.
Complete the budget application form that should include:
- Planned events and programming
• Estimated expenses
• Funding needs and rationale
Budget Application (Please make a copy by clicking File > Save As)
- Review with Your Advisor
Meet with your Faculty/Staff Advisor to review both your Constitution and Budget Proposal and prepare for your Chartering Presentation. Advisor approval is required before submission.
- Submit Application & Select Presentation Slot
By April 13, 2026, select a time on the Excel sheet & submit and upload the following to the Microsoft Form:
- Final Constitution
• Final Budget Proposal
Chartering Night will take place on April 20, 2026. After your completed application is submitted, you will be invited to select a presentation time slot.
- Chartering Night Presentation
Club leadership presents to the Senate:
- Demonstrate the unique value of the club to students and why a budget may be needed.
- Cite spending and engagement metrics.
• Presentation under five minutes
The Senate will vote after all presentations have concluded, and decisions will be shared within one calendar week.
